The Brooke Class were the first guided missile
frigates built for the US Navy and were identical to the
Garcia Class
except for armament. When commissioned they were classified as Guided
Missile Destroyer Escort (DEG), and were reclassified as Guided Missile
Frigates (FFG) in June 1975.
